RWR-018: Everyone Wants to Be Successful

On today’s episode, I dig into this quote: “Everyone wants to be successful until they see what it actually takes.” It’s true, we all want to be successful, but in reality, only a handful of people really want to put in the work. The work that goes on behind the scenes.

Most people just see someone’s “highlight reel” and consider everything they’ve done an overnight success. It’s almost never the case. Ever. There are early mornings, late nights, skipped meals, mood swings, working on vacation, missing parties, blood, sweat, tears, and more. But these things usually aren’t published for the world to see.

People also have a bad habit of attributing success to luck, which also isn’t usually the case. Unless you define luck the way I do: “Luck is where preparation meets opportunity.” If you spend your life working your ass off, consistently cruising down the path towards your goals, you will undoubtedly run into some pretty amazing opportunities. When these opportunities come knocking at your door, you’ll be ready and you’ll accept them with open arms. You prepared for them, you were not quote unquote lucky.

So the next time you see an instagram post of someone jetsetting across Europe, or stoked about all these new clients they are booking, or how insanely happy they are to be getting paid for doing work they love, don’t roll your eyes. There are years of hustling and grinding it out that they aren’t posting about. But I guarantee you, if you ask them what their key to success is, they will say things like: patience, putting in the work, consistency, positive habits, exercise, research, taking action, setting huge goals, etc. So go out there and do the work!

Thanks again for listening! Be sure to leave me a review on iTunes and I can’t wait to share the next episode with you soon. Until next time, think less, risk more, regret nothing!
